I am so grateful for the time I've had as a Thoughtworker — the opportunities that have come my way, the experiences that I could not have found anywhere else and the joy of working with people who love what they do and want to betterise all the things — and not just those in front of them. I have learned so much from everyone I've come into contact with over the last 18 years and I am so thankful.
But I've decided it's time for new adventures … I don't know what those adventures might be yet, but I'm excited to see where they take me. If you have, or know of an adventure that might suit me, please let me know!
The Longer Story …
As some of you will know, I'd been on leave for awhile, after a reasonably uninteresting accident (I fell over while walking to post a letter) resulted in an impressive injury to my dominant arm. Even my surgeon suggested I needed a better story than the one I had.
I took a long leave of absence to focus on physical therapy and I was due to return this quarter, but decided instead, that I would do the scary thing and take this opportunity to challenge myself to do something new. I don't know what that new thing is yet, but after nearly 18 years at ThoughtWorks, pretty much everything is new and a bit scary.
I started writing a list of stand-out experiences, but stopped myself after realising it would have made this email far, far too long. I am, as always, happy to exchange stories for wine and/or coffee 🙂
I will be excited to watch Thoughtworks continue to thrive and grow from the sidelines, now as a lifelong friend. Some of you will have heard me say this before, but I believe there are three kinds of Thoughtworkers in the world: those who don't yet work for Thoughtworks; those who currently do; and those who once did — and now I am able to tick off all three!
